Out of the box, one can’t but help compare it with a classic 60-40 double bowl sink. But the similarities are limited to the dimensions.

Everything else from the brushed stainless steel finish to the clean lines and zero radius curves is designed for the modern kitchen.

The Ruvati RVH8050 looks stylish and attractive. The drop-in design makes installation and maintenance a breeze.

It is 23 inches wide, 18 inches long and 10 inches deep giving you ample space to add even your largest pans and ovenware. What’s more important is that your hands won’t be cramped for space even with the utensils in the sink. There’s always some room to spare.

Ruvati throws in a pair of rinse grids that protect the stainless steel surface from scratches. To be fair, the 16-gauge, T-304 steel and the brushed finish are almost impermeable to scratches. But the grids are pretty useful because they also double up as a drying rack.

You can always choose to remove them if you feel that they clutter the appearance.

Also included in the package is a basket strainer drain that keeps the debris out and prevents a messy clogged-drain scenario. What’s great about it is that it does not interfere with a garbage disposal system.

Incredibly durable

The Ruvati RVH8050 is fabricated from 304 stainless steel that is 18/10 chromium nickel. This gives it unparalleled corrosion resistance against oxidizing acids.

While the manufacturer recommends that you wash it once a week with BarKeep’s Friend or any other non-abrasive cleaner of your choice, the sink remains clean even with a normal wipe down or rinsing.

There is zero mold build-up which is just the way sinks ought to be. Natural stone sinks, on the other hand, are highly prone to mold and mildew unless you judiciously scrub it every day.

Also, the 16-gauge steel does not chip, peel or get dented. The sink has been installed in high traffic kitchens in households with kids who cannot differentiate between a beverage that can stain or a pan that can dent the sink. There have been zero complaints.

In fact, most people who have used it are of the opinion that the sink still looks as good as new.

Simple installation

The Ruvati RVH8050 comes ready-to-install. If you know your way around tools, you can easily self-install this.

It comes with a pre-drilled single hole and a cut-out template that fits right into a standard-sized sink opening. In the rare scenario that it doesn’t fit in, you might have to trim the countertop a tad.

So, ensure that you are prepared for it.

All that you need to do is release the clips that secure the old sink, disconnect the drain and attach this one. With a basin as deep as this, you might find it a little difficult to secure the mounting clips, especially on the sides.

A large-handled screwdriver will be extremely handy and make the task easier.

Another neat design feature is that the drain is positioned near the rear of the sink which gives you ample room under the sink.

A common niggle that some homeowners cite against stainless steel sinks is that they can get extremely loud. As a workaround, Ruvati has added heavy duty rubber padding under the sink, near the drain, and on the sides.

Not only does this reduce the din to a considerable extent, it also protects the drain against condensation.

What could have been better

The manufacturer recommends that you use BarKeep’s Friend to clean the sink once every week. Most people expect a stainless steel sink to be zero maintenance, so that does sound surprising. But to be fair, that’s only recommended if you are looking at unhindered long-term usage from your sink. And is cleaning a sink weekly a deal breaker? Not for us.

To sum it up
